Sad News: Sujata Barot

We have recently heard of the passing of Sujata Barot.
Sujata won our very first East Midlands Outstanding BAME Female Leader Award in 2017. An exceptional light in the local Leicester community, Sujata fought for disability rights, gender equality and was a strong community activist. She was the first Indian woman on TV and Radio in Leicestershire, having been at the start of the BBC Asian Radio.
In recent years Sujata threw her hat into the political ring and became the Independent Leicester East Constituency representative, continuing to serve her constituent with the intelligence whit, determination, passion, and powerful results that she did everything she put her hands to.
An outspoken, big-hearted, radiant light for change, who leaves a legacy from which many women and men will continue to benefit for many years to come.
Our love and condolences go out to her family and the Leicester community at large, who will all feel the impact of her loss
