23 September 2021Winners take hold of their trophies at last – Women’s Awards – East Midlands 2020
The Women’s Awards 2020 Trophy Presentation took place on Friday 18th September 2021 at the stunning Whatton House in Loughborough, Leicestershire.
The Winners Trophy presentation was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic lockdowns since the annual presentation was taken online in October 2020.
Special Guest was Michael Kapur Esq OBE, Her Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant of Leicestershire, who spoke briefly on the importance of The Women’s Awards and encouraged guests to identify and nominate exceptional women working in their chosen fields across our communities.
Founder, Sandra Pollock OBE noted the negative impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on women and consequently children.
‘The pandemic has forced us to think differently in our lives and businesses. On the basis of what we’ve learnt already, it is paramount that we do what we can both as individuals and organisations to ensure we do not miss out on the clear learnings and messages of these times: that we are one human race. We cannot survive without working together, and that means recognising what our differences bring to the table… When women struggle, children struggle. When children struggle, the adults of tomorrow struggle. We make a difference to our future through how we support women to achieve success today. Where we allow women to fail in achieving success, we ultimately fail our whole society.’ – Sandra Pollock OBE
Sandra was named in this year’s Queen’s New Year’s Honour’s List where she was awarded an OBE for Services to Equality.
Winners, Finalists, and guests in attendance came from all across the East Midlands region. Winners received their trophies, and Finalists were also presented with framed certificates.
Due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic the Women’s Awards have decided not to hold a ceremony this year. All nominations submitted for this year will be carried over to 2022.
Nominees deserve to receive the prestige and quality our awards are known to deliver. Quality over quantity is a far better option. Nominations will remain open until Thursday 30th June 2022.
